After igniting the spark of optimism through high school workshops, a rigorous screening process begins with school principals' recommendations, a demanding application process, interviews, and a home visit.

The decision to award a scholarship is based on the student's grade point average, their drive to succeed, leadership potential, family support, and financial need.

Once selected for a scho
larship, the Jóvenes Adelante team of volunteers and staff provide each student with monthly financial support, a laptop appropriate to the student's major, a mentor, psychological counseling, life skills coaching, English tutoring and a graduate network of support.

A small investment really pays off. A commitment of $8,000 USD per student provides students all of the services mentioned above for the full five years of their studies, and credential fees. All donations make a major difference in the life of a bright university student.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Each student receives a monthly stipend over the course of their entire university career. Stipends contribute toward payment of  school fees and/or tuition, books, rent, transportation, etc.

MENTORS
Mentors are our most important means of support. Meeting students monthly throughout their university studies,  mentors, serve as combination coach, cheerleader, sounding board and advisor.
Mentors link the student to the JA office, ensuring that JA staff are up-to-date with the student’s progress and able to coordinate responses to the student’s emerging needs..Both Mexican nationals and expatriates, mentors often develop strong and enduring relationships that are deeply rewarding for both mentor and mentee.

LAPTOPS
Every student is given a new laptop computer loaded with software specific to that student's area of study.

ENGLISH
Our volunteers actively provide English coaching.

LIFE SKILLS
Workshops range from self-esteem building and presentation skills to resumé writing and interviewing, to nutrition and financial management. All are critical to both personal and professional success.

COUNSELING
The transition to university life is a huge leap for our students, many of whom have not been outside their home communities before. Our team of professionals meet one-on-one with students who are facing life challenges such as family crises, financial pressures, separation anxiety and loneliness, fear of failure, living independently,  and academic issues. JA counselors provide professional guidance for students to overcome these challenges and successfully complete their academic programs.

NEW!! GRADUATION & CERTIFICATION
In Mexico, new graduates need to go through a Título and Certificación Profesional/Cédula process that grants them professional licensure. As this is costly and time-consuming, we provide assistance to most students after graduation.
