Counseling

Life happens.Jóvenes Adelante students have family problems or pressures, difficult professors, personal health problems, and more just like the rest of us.

Sometimes a mentor can help. Other times it takes a professional. Fortunately we have some professional counselors on-board who have helped multiple students through the rough patches.

We will continue to need skilled counselors. Please contact our VP of Volunteers if you can help at Volunteers@JovenesAdelant.org

Computers

In this high tech age, students without computers are terribly handicapped. With all the required research work, papers to write, team projects, communications with professors & classmates, major design projects, data analysis and more, computer access is essential.

Paying for internet café usage gets expensive. And waiting hours for access to a computer at school takes time that is equally precious considering the hours our students keep, being busy around the clock with classes, homework, working at nearly full-time jobs and even managing to include extracurricular activities.

With the assistance of Computadoras Pro Jóvenes and private donors, Jóvenes Adelante loans laptops to students who need them. The challenge is to acquire enough computers to meet the needs in a timely way.

By donating your gently used computer or laptop (preferred 1.8Ghz or faster processor, 512MB or more memory, 30GB disk or larger, Wifi) you help others while avoiding the toxic waste problem associated with disposal of computer parts.

If you are in San Miguel or nearby, contact our Computer Coordinator at Computers@JovenesAdelante.com to arrange a pickup.

If you are in the States, please email us about your prospective donation. We can work with CPJ to get the computer to SMA. They now have an arrangement whereby donated equipment is picked up in Dallas and transported to San Miguel without shipping or customs charges.
